Thermowave is a German manufacturer of gasketed and semi-welded (laser-welded module) plate heat exchangers, used across cooling, heating, condensation, evaporation, ventilation, and refrigeration applications, including pasteurisation, beer/beverage cooling, oil cooling, and drinking water heating duties. Because each plate replicates the original clamping/tensioning dimension and port layout, it seats correctly on the carrying and guiding bars of your existing frame and holds the correct plate pack tensioning dimension, without requiring any modification to the frame, tightening screws, or support rod.
A distinctive feature of genuine Thermowave plates is their non-adhesive, press-in gasket system: gaskets simply align with locating holes and press into the groove, requiring no glue and no specialised tooling to fit - meaning routine maintenance can often be carried out by in-house plant personnel rather than requiring a specialist technician. SRJ manufactures Thermowave-compatible gaskets to this same press-in, non-stick design, so gasket replacement during servicing remains exactly as straightforward as with genuine Thermowave parts, and once removed, a worn gasket simply gets replaced rather than reused - consistent with Thermowave's own maintenance approach.
Thermowave's TL/EL plate range is available in multiple plate variants across the same model designation (for example, TL90PP and TL90SS), allowing plate size and material combination to be matched to specific process and duty requirements - from beer wort cooling and pasteurisation to oil cooling and heating drinking water. SRJ's tooling reproduces the specific corrugation depth and pattern for each TL/EL model size, so replacement plates preserve the pressure drop and heat transfer performance the unit was originally designed to deliver.
For applications involving aggressive or hazardous media, Thermowave also offers a semi-welded range built from laser-welded plate modules - pairs of plates welded together to form a hermetically sealed flow channel for the aggressive medium, while the non-aggressive side continues to use conventional gaskets. This design means any leak on the welded side is forced outward and easily detected, rather than allowing cross-contamination between media. SRJ can advise on suitable replacement strategies for semi-welded Thermowave units, since these use welded module cassettes rather than fully serviceable individual plates on the welded side.
Material selection for Thermowave-compatible plates follows the same options used in genuine units - AISI 304 for closed circuits with chemically prepared water, glycols, or oils; AISI 316L for open and closed circuits including river/wastewater with limited chloride content; and Titanium Gr.1 for high-chloride media such as seawater or calcium/sodium chloride solutions - in standard thicknesses from 0.5mm to 0.8mm. Gaskets are supplied in NBR, EPDM, HNBR, Chloroprene, and Butyl, selected to match your process fluid, temperature, and pressure requirements.
